How does weed in Madrid work?

There are no coffee shops in Madrid. Adults access cannabis through private cannabis social clubs: closed, non-profit associations you join as a member. You cannot just walk in; you request an invitation, get approved and accept the club rules.

Anyone offering weed on the street, in bars or through messaging apps is outside this system. Street sales are illegal, the quality is a mystery and visitors are an easy target for scams and fines.

What is a weed club in Madrid?

A weed club (club cannábico) is a private association where adult members consume together. It is not open to the public, it does not advertise products or prices and it follows strict rules. Want the legal side? Read is weed legal in Madrid.
